Selling ED MAP your used textbooks is a simple process, but we recommend you review the following information before starting.

1. How do you establish the book price?

The short answer is: national wholesalers. These few large organizations advise college bookstores which books at what price they will buy. Most bookstores, including ED MAP, serve as the outreach to the students for the wholesalers and this relationship establishes the prices for most of the texts listed here. HOWEVER, when ED MAP lists textbooks for our own use, you will be offered a higher price than that offered by the wholesalers. Click here for a fuller discussion how the used textbook industry operates.

2. Why can’t I sell all my used textbooks?

As noted above, the national wholesalers guesstimate the current demand for the hundreds of thousands of published textbooks. If they don’t believe they have a viable outlet to sell the used texts, they don’t offer to buy them.

3. Does the condition of my textbooks matter?

Yes. They must be in good condition. At the minimum that means no moisture damage, no missing or damaged pages, and only limited amounts of inked notes or underlined or highlighted text. The covers and binding should be in good shape. If a book's title indicates a CD is included, then the CD must be with the book. Books that we determine to be in unsatisfactory condition are discarded – not returned – and you will not receive payment for those books. Bottom line: would you be happy purchasing that text in its present condition?
